During his long and distinguished career, Schopin painted elaborate allegorical and historcal paintings, often referencing current events, such as Divorce entre Napoléon et Joséphine (Malmaison), Le Divorce de Joséphine (Wallace Collection) and Bataille de Hohenlinden (Versailles).
